Worked with Riva over the last two months to get renters insurance in place now that I am flying and becoming a student of the craft again. She could have had all of it done on my first call and in one day, but I delayed as I was awaiting a medical certificate decision from the FAA, and didn’t want to buy coverage I may not need if they declined me. I am a relatively low-time pilot (around 400 hrs) who is blessed to have been able to purchase and own a Cessna 400-series aircraft starting last year. As I was attempting to renew coverage with another big name insurance broker recommended by AOPA, I was beginning to lose hope that my premiums would be any cheaper or coverage better despite the additional training and experience I acquired over the last year. In fact, I spent several hours each week for the better part of three months over email and phone and with multiple different people within that brokerage and numerous "false starts"…all contributing to my notion that the entire industry was filled with uncaring and incompetent agents who couldn't even enter the data I gave to them to give me an accurate quote, much less one that was decent from a cost and coverage standpoint. I started contacting other brokers and got the "runaround" to fill out this form or that including some that were so unapplicable to aviation that they were laughable (no, I don't need "Bounty Hunter" insurance…). I was also concerned that I'd already "locked out" any other brokers to existing underwriters and was becoming resigned to paying more than twice what I was quoted a year ago. In conversation with another Twin Cessna pilot and after having asked him if he knew of anyone decent in Insurance, this pilot gave me the contact info for Jackie. This changed everything! With nothing to lose, I messaged Jackie exactly 1 week and 1 day prior to my existing insurance renewal. It was a Saturday, and I didn't want to sound too desperate, so I left a voicemail asking for her to get in contact with me on Monday. She called me back later that night! It turns out, she actually loves serving customers! She took my info and gave me a whole lot of extremely helpful information as she went about the work of getting me quotes for both liability-only as well as liability+hull. The pricepoint of the liability+hull was significantly more cost-effective than any of the quotes offered up by the big name broker. I was all set to bind coverage, and wouldn't you know it…Jackie came with yet another quote that was even better. Yes…Yes please! Jackie and BWI never stopped searching and working the best deal for their customer. Now I have full coverage for about what I was quoted for liability-only with the other broker. I've now shared about BWI with several others and would encourage any aircraft owner / pilot to contact them first with any of your aviation insurance needs. Thank you Jackie and BWI!
