Private Jet Insurance Solutions by Aircraft Type
Coverage Built for High-Value Aircraft
BWI helps private jet owners review aircraft damage and liability cover. Tell us about the jet, its pilots and how it will be used. We can then discuss the terms available for that submission.
A jet policy should reflect the aircraft’s value and the losses you want to protect against. Read the limits, exclusions and pilot conditions before deciding which offer fits your needs.
What is Private Jet Insurance?
A private jet policy covers risks listed in the contract. It may include aircraft damage, liability and other benefits. The policy period, named parties and accepted uses all matter.
Liability cover can respond to certain claims that the insured aircraft operation caused injury or property damage. The policy sets the limits, exclusions and terms for legal defense.
Aircraft damage cover, often called hull cover, concerns the jet itself. Review the agreed value, deductible and causes of loss. A policy may exclude some damage or impose conditions that affect a claim.
Ask about legal costs and any added benefits, such as retrieval, trip interruption or passenger medical payments. These benefits vary. Read the actual offer before assuming they are included.
Private Jet Insurance Basics
Describe the aircraft model, value, pilots and use in the quote request. A policy for one jet and crew may have different conditions from another. Compare the full terms alongside the price.
Explain whether the jet is owner-flown, crewed for company travel or used for paid services. Submit any change in use for review. A private-use policy should not be assumed to cover a later commercial activity.
BWI’s aviation insurance team helps with quotes, policy questions and renewals. Our family-owned brokerage has been in business since 1977. Speak with the team about the aircraft and crew you plan to insure.
What coverages are typically offered in Private Jet Insurance policies?
Liability cover concerns covered claims made against an insured party. Read the terms for bodily injury, property damage and legal costs. The policy wording determines which claims it can address.
Ask about the overall liability limit and any smaller limit per passenger. Available limits depend on the aircraft, pilots, use and insurer. Compare the options offered for your own submission.
Use these questions to discuss liability limits with BWI.
- What is the anticipated total liability exposure when operating your jet aircraft?
- How much liability insurance protection does the policy holder need to protect them?
- What limits and passenger terms are available for this aircraft and crew?
- Do the offered limits meet your contracts and the risks you want to address? Ask about changes before relying on a higher limit.
Aircraft damage cover uses the value and terms accepted by the insurer. For example, a request to insure a jet for $3 million needs support from aircraft and equipment records. A quote alone does not start cover. The bound policy sets the value, deductible and claim terms.
Use current aircraft and equipment records when discussing the requested value.
- What is the replacement cost of the aircraft?
- What are similar equipped aircraft currently selling for?
- Make sure to include all equipment and aircraft upgrades.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How much does it cost to insure a private jet aircraft?Show Answer
A: The price depends on the jet, its value, pilots, use and chosen cover. Ask for a current quote based on those facts. A broad price range does not estimate what your own policy will cost.
Q: What is the minimum price of a private jet?Show Answer
A: Purchase prices vary by model, age, equipment and condition. Use a current manufacturer or seller quote when budgeting for an aircraft, and discuss an appropriate insured value with your aviation insurance professional.
Q: Do private jets need 2 pilots?Show Answer
A: Crew requirements depend on the aircraft and operation. Check the flight rules and aircraft requirements with qualified advisers. Then confirm the insurer’s pilot conditions, which may add requirements of their own.
Q: How much does it cost in fuel to fly a private jet?Show Answer
A: Fuel cost depends on the aircraft, fuel consumption, flight profile and current fuel price. Use the aircraft’s operating information and current fuel prices to estimate your own trip costs.
Q: How does private jet insurance work?Show Answer
A: You pay a premium for the insurer to cover risks described in the contract. After a reported event, the insurer reviews the facts and policy. Limits, deductibles and exclusions affect the result, so read your own documents.
