We are pleased to announce the release of our very first episode on BWI Fly Live!
Episode 1 | 5 Things You Need To Know About Aircraft Renter’s Insurance! Our very first episode zeros in, on 5 most important things you need to know when considering an aircraft renter’s insurance policy. Aircraft renter’s insurance is designed to protect pilots when renting or flying aircraft that they do not own.
Flying non-owned aircraft increases your personal liability exposure and it isn’t always wise to count on the aircraft owners insurance policy for protection. Purchasing an aircraft renter’s insurance policy gives you peace of mind in having additional liability coverage, dedicated to protecting you first.
Aircraft renter’s insurance typically covers:
- Third-party bodily injury
- Third-party property damage
- Physical damage to the aircraft itself.
- Can provide coverage to pay flight school or FBO physical damage deductibles.
- Provide for your legal defense costs
Aircraft renter’s insurance includes liability coverage starting at $250,000 and we recommend carrying at least $1,000,000 in total liability coverage. Aircraft liability insurance protects you against legal liability for damages arising out of bodily injury or property damage, caused while flying an aircraft. Aircraft liability insurance also provides you with legal defense, in the event you are sued if an accident occurs while flying.
Aircraft renter’s insurance also offers the option to add physical damage coverage in addition to the basic liability coverages offered. Physical damage coverage, covers damage to the aircraft itself and can be purchased in amounts anywhere from $5,000 to $200,000 depending on the type of aircraft you are renting or flying.
Aircraft renters insurance policies are sold as full-annual insurance policies and can cover Single-Engine Land aircraft and gliders, single-engine seaplane aircraft and multi-engine land aircraft.
