Need a certificate of insurance?
A certificate provides evidence of insurance. It does not replace your policy or, by itself, change the coverage your policy provides.
Have these details ready for your BWI contact
- Your policy or quote reference, if you have it.
- The exact legal name and address of the organization requesting the certificate.
- The aircraft, drone or operation the request concerns.
- The relevant dates, location and deadline.
- A copy of the insurance requirements or the wording you were asked to provide.
Certificate holder or additional insured?
If the request includes additional insured status, a waiver of subrogation or other special wording, share the actual requirement with BWI. We can review what is needed against the policy and the insurer’s requirements. Being listed as a certificate holder does not, by itself, make someone an additional insured.
Contact us before the deadline. Sending a request is not confirmation that a certificate or policy change has been issued.
Policy updates
Planning a change? Start with the details.
Contact BWI with what is changing and when you would like the change to take effect. Depending on the request, the insurer may need more information or an endorsement.
- Aircraft or equipment being added, removed or replaced.
- Pilots, owners or business entities that are changing.
- A new use, location, territory or operating arrangement.
- The coverage, limits or documents you want reviewed.
Ask your BWI contact to confirm the applicable terms and effective date before you rely on the requested change.
Email BWI about a policy changeKeep your information current
Get ready for your renewal.
Review your current aircraft or equipment, pilots, operations and coverage requests. Keep your recent experience and training information available, and tell BWI about any changes that need review.
A few helpful answers.
Is a sample policy my actual policy?
No. A sample is a reference. Your own policy, declarations and endorsements are the documents to review for your insurance. Contact BWI if you need a copy.
Does requesting a certificate change my coverage?
A request is not a coverage change. If the request needs different limits, an additional insured or other policy wording, ask BWI to review it and confirm what is available.
What if my client sends a long insurance requirement?
Share the actual requirement and deadline with your BWI contact. Identify the work, aircraft or drones, and the organizations involved so the request can be reviewed.
Where do I send payment or claim questions?
Use the payment and claim links on this page for the relevant instructions. You can also call BWI at 800-666-4359 for help finding the right next step.
