Cessna 150 insurance cost guide
The figures below describe reviewed BWI quotes from June 4, 2025 through June 3, 2026. They are historical quoted premiums, not current offers or bound coverage.
Updated October 26, 2026. Quote sample: June 4, 2025 through June 3, 2026.
Cessna 150 annual insurance quote ranges
In BWI’s reviewed quote sample, the typical annual premium range was $500–$1,000 per year for Cessna 150 aircraft insured for $25,000 to under $50,000.
These are historical quoted offers, not premiums paid or guaranteed current rates. The sample pools varied pilot experience and qualifications. It does not establish a student-pilot rate or a rate for a particular experience level. Request a Cessna 150 insurance quote for your aircraft and the pilots who will fly it.
$25,000 to under $50,000 insured value
$500–$1,000 per year
Median: $700
Average: $725
Based on 39 quoted offers.
June 4, 2025–June 3, 2026.
The typical range covers the middle 80 percent of offers in this group, using the 10th and 90th percentiles rounded outward to $50. Medians and averages are rounded to $25. Some valid offers fell outside the typical range. This group contains 39 offers, drawn from two insurer sources; insurer names and customer details are not disclosed.
What coverage do these ranges include?
This group uses the same quoted coverage structure:
- Full-flight hull coverage, rather than liability-only or ground-only coverage.
- Pleasure and business use, excluding instruction-and-rental or other commercial-use categories.
- $1 million liability per occurrence, with a $100,000 per-passenger limit.
- $0 in-motion and $0 not-in-motion hull deductibles.
- One aircraft per quoted premium.
The per-passenger limit is part of the liability structure; it is not an additional $100,000 added to the $1 million occurrence limit. Review the actual policy’s definitions, exclusions and conditions. A quoted insured value does not, by itself, guarantee how a claim will be settled.
Why your Cessna 150 quote may differ
The comparison compares coverage and insured-value groups. It does not hold every underwriting detail constant. BWI needs the aircraft’s year and model, its value and intended use, and the qualifications of every pilot who will fly it. Total time, recent flying, time in the aircraft, ratings, training requirements and claim history can change the offers available.
Different insured values also change what is being quoted. Compare the hull value, liability limits, passenger limits, deductibles, permitted uses and pilot conditions together. A lower premium for a different package is not a like-for-like saving.
This sample does not support a separate published range for every 150 variant, pilot profile or insured value. Only the fixed-series model codes represented in this reviewed sample are included; other variants have not been priced separately. Do not extrapolate the comparison to flight-school, rental, flying-club or other operations with different coverage needs.
How BWI calculated these figures
We reviewed annual quote records and retained offers with the stated aircraft, coverage, use, limits, deductibles and insured values. Premium totals were checked against the available quote information. Identical repeats were removed, and unresolved conflicting revisions were withheld. Quotes without enough information to establish comparability were left out.
Offers are the unit of analysis. One insurance request can produce more than one insurer offer, so 39 offers does not mean 39 independent customers or 39 issued policies. These observations describe the reviewed BWI sample, not the entire aviation insurance market. The dates describe the quote sample; they do not mean an offer is still available today.
Questions about Cessna 150 insurance cost
Are these monthly or annual prices?
They are full annual quoted premiums, not monthly finance payments. Financing terms, if offered, should be compared separately from the annual policy premium.
Can a student pilot use this range as an estimate?
The comparison is not student-specific. Tell BWI about your training stage, instructor arrangements and intended flying so the request reflects the actual pilots and operation. Your offers and any required conditions may differ from this pooled sample.
What if I want liability-only coverage?
Liability-only quotes are excluded from this table. Ask BWI to review that request separately rather than comparing a liability-only price with an offer that includes hull coverage.
What if my insured value is outside this band?
Request a quote for its actual value. We have not published a range outside $25,000 to under $50,000 from this reviewed sample. Avoid assuming the premium scales directly with the aircraft’s value.
Get a Cessna 150 insurance quote
Send BWI the aircraft year and model, requested insured value, intended use, pilot qualifications and preferred effective date. If you have a current policy or another offer, include its limits, deductibles and pilot conditions so the comparison starts with the same coverage request.
Get an aircraft insurance quote from BWI or call 800-666-4359. Requesting a quote does not bind coverage.
